A Fat Man

A fat man has fallen on his back in his bed,

Like a crippled fly stuck on its back.

Lamed by the size of his fat belly…

Menaced by the excessive alcohol pumping around his head.

Lulled by his sleepiness and the comfort of his bed.

He wriggles till he sleeps.

Lost in a deep stupa,

Which will last till a restless and sleepy dawn awakens him,

To radio noises, hangover, and the urgency of a working day.
