Sensory Perception
A light rain shower which settles the dust.
Freshly cut lawn all green and lush.
Orange blossoms herald Spring.
Autumn’s Currawongs gabble and sing.
Fresh tobacco in the palm of my hand.
The texture of cigarette paper on my lip.
Phosphorous burning as the match is struck.
Flavour of smoke on the back of my throat.
Flocks of Galahs squabble and squawk.
Hand full of Rosellas chatter and talk.
Frangipani’s delicate scent.
Old Man Banksia black and bent.
Bitter hops of dark ale.
Cold, fresh and wet.
Berry nose of a bold Shiraz.
Red wine washing over my tongue.
Dust and diesel fumes.
Rolling thunder as darkness looms.
The fearless Magpies warbled song.
Smell of the BBQ sizzling along.
