The Dream

I sit at my table and serve upon myself,

For I am both King and servant.

Seeing well past yesterday I ponder on tomorrow,

Grounded in the joy of watching my subjects

Mature into their Kingdoms.

The wisdom of life settles easy upon me

For I understand the narrow path

That winds between life and death.

We all will pass from deep to faltering breath!

I sit at my table and converse with empty chairs.

Silence is my servant and patience my companion.

My mind fills the space others find empty.

I dream of love and compassion.
