The Last Goodbye

When was the last time you caressed my skin,

Gently touched my lips and excited my senses?

When were we last together

Allowing time to slip between us?

At best I give you a casual glance,

An occasional thought, by chance.

I silently debate my next move, should I end all ties?

Sentimental emotions swell and cast their spell.

Avoidance at best, little action leaves decisions at rest.

But eventually, for our mutual good one must act.

Swiftly, decisively, with dignity.

But one must act.

Ruthless will must overcome sentiment

Procrastination ends and decluttering begins.

Empty cupboards and wardrobes.

Fill garbage bins!
