Band Practice

I saw you this morning strike out across the park.

Head down with the emotion of it all weighing heavily upon you.

School bag slung off your shoulder and saxophone case in hand.

I had to chase after you and cuddle you. And as you turned I saw the emotion well up in your beautiful blue eyes.

Chased from your home for early Monday morning band practice with no morning tea and no drink bottle!

But your Mum will bring those to you later my boy.

Oh how I love your emotion, your reaction that is so you.

I had to hug you for if I didn’t catch you this time next time, maybe, you’d be too big, too old, and too tough for your Dad to cuddle.
